Point one: I've about 1,000 words I wrote on Monday, which I've not yet been arsed to type up. Watch this space, I suppose.

Point two: Considering that, at this point, I'd have to write about 3,500 words a day, I don't think I'm going to make it. Timewise, I probably could, but I'm pretty sure my wrist(s) couldn't take it. Actually, even time-wise, between work and sleep and various other things, I'm not sure it'd be humanly possible. (Well, maybe humanly, bt not Melle-ly, which is what we're going for, here.) More to the point, I don't think I have enough story to cover that many words.

Which isn't to say I won't try to still make it, because I will, but right now, a more realistic goal would be 30,000-35,000. That would still be fice times as long as anything else I've ever written, and the first semi-epic thing I'll have finished. Right now, the most important thing to me is to finish this, not so much the word count anymore. And another 10,000-15,000 words will give me just enough time to get the boys together and get the three of them to the Emperor, effectively wrapping up the story, though not exploring this world as well as I'd like.

But that, I think, is something I can do at another time. I need to write a lot of fanfic drabbles and stories, and finish Strange Love, but once I'm done with the immediate projects, if I still like this story and this world as much as I do, I can spend some more time worldbuilding and plotting, and then I can rewrite this into what i'd like it to be.

The main goal I had in mind by participating in this was to finally finish something of (semi-)epic length, which is, as I said, well within the realms of possibility.

It's a good start. It also means I may have to get trough this napmswrimo on my own and with 8000 words behind right now, that seems hard... But I still have some ideas. I didn't sleep much but thought of some stuff while lying awake. I have a widow turning into a whore to feed her children, and those two kiddo's still need to marry and then I have the death of their firstborn, alcoholism and infedelity waiting. Not to forget that the earlier mentioned widow was widowed trough murder, and I'm pushing her in that 80 year gap that I left earlier.

I've also renamed it napmswrimo, as in national porn movie script writing month. 50.000 words won't cover the finishing of this story, as it stands now, but I should be able to hit it if I try my best. I can then finish it later, clean it up a bit to prevent being listed in the children not allowed categories together with Mr. Brusselmans, and then hopefully there will still be enough pages left or something...

Time to turn my alarm clock off and catch up on some of the sleep I haven't been having properly lately. I could do some more writing tomorrow.

I had some other idea. Since I've discovered that world building and having a plot line ahead of time can actually help keeping your book in between the lines (which I failed at tremendously this year), I was hoping I could count on even more co-operation next year.
Ever read Richard Bachman's 'The Regulators' and Stephen King's 'Desperation' ?
That's where I got the idea, Richard Bachman is just another name Stephen King likes to use, and although both stories are different, he shared the names of the characters amongst both books.
If we'd both finish our books and publish them, it would be a neat fun trick to use the same names for towns, places and people.
As for the maps and stuff we can still throw things around, a town in one can be a river in another, etc...
I'll probably think this is stupid or something by next year but it's just a thought. I've given up writing by now actually, seeing how little of my story would actually be left if I cut the porn out, too much meaningless stuff in there, I'm not happy with it, better luck next year I guess.
I might try some of your fandom/slash stuff perhaps, there should be a first for anything, Britney and Madonna ? Has someone beat me to it already ?

Heh. Several times, probably, though femslash in general is kind of rare, relatively, outside of Buffy and Xena fandoms. (Don't get me started.)

I'm still aiming for 30,000, though I should really start typing up what I have written already. Argh.
